Step 1: Understand Your Visa Options

There is no single "Nigerian to Australia" visa — rather, you must qualify under one of Australia's migration streams. The most common for Nigerian nationals are:

• Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189): Points-based, no employer or state needed
• State Nominated Visa (Subclass 190): Sponsored by an Australian state or territory
• Student Visa (Subclass 500): Study pathway leading to PR
• Employer Sponsored (Subclass 482): If you have a job offer in Australia

Step 2: Check the Points Test

For skilled visas, Australia uses a points-based system. You need a minimum of 65 points to lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) via SkillSelect, but the actual invitation cutoff is typically much higher — often 85–90+ points for popular occupations.
